For one of our clients, a supply chain and logistic international firm, we are seeking to recruit Purchasing Manager for all over the road transportation modes, to join a growing team. This is a new role within the team.

You will be a part of the Purchasing and Procurement team and will be take ownership of all international road trade requirements.

Your mission:

  • Responsible, develop and manage all sourcing negotiation with logistics supplier
  • Responsible for all matters related to road freight
  • Maintains the relationship with the established logistics suppliers
  • Develop and maintain the category strategies for all over-the-road bulk transportation modes, transloading terminals and related logistics services (e.g. tank trailer leasing/building) 
  • Assists internal customers in defining their logistics scope of service
  • Gathers and shares market intelligence for the road transportation modes
  • Qualify, approves and selects new logistics suppliers
  • Maintains the relationship with the established logistics suppliers
  • Collect, analyze and assure quality of the data to support purchasing activities
  • Understand company’s Quality, Safety and Code of Conduct Policy and comply with all corporate guidelines
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure service levels of logistics suppliers
  • Ensure that the Purchasing Process is followed

Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; major in Logistics, Supply Chain or Engineering preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of practical hands on experience in purchasing and/or road transportation operations  
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the buying of over-the-road transportation and related services
  • Exposure to hazardous materials a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work and influence all levels within an organization
  • Must be able to work and lead effectively in a multi-cultural and matrix environment
  • Strong negotiating and proven analytical skills
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to teamwork and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment; also ability to work autonomously
  • Experience in the use of procurement tools (e-sourcing, contract management, etc.)
  • Clear understanding of logistics terms and concepts
  • General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)  SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to travel
