Commodity Trade Finance - Relationship Manager

For one of our clients, a Trade Finance services expert, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Houston-based Commodity Trade Finance Relationship Manager to drive business development in a fully autonomous, remote role. Reporting to the CEO, you will leverage your expertise in commodity trade finance, ideally gained from top-tier banks and reputable trading firms, to expand the company's client base. Candidates must be based in the U.S. and an existing portfolio of clients is preferred.

Your mission:

  • Develop and manage relationships with commodity trading clients across energy, metals, and agriculture
  • Independently structure and oversee credit lines and transactions, ensuring alignment with company policies
  • Assess credit, compliance, and operational risks in collaboration with the risk department
  • Strengthen client relationships by offering tailored financial solutions, including trade finance, borrowing bases, private placements, and bonds
  • Supervise loan agreements and transaction sheets, identifying key risks with the risk team
  • Facilitate coordination between clients, internal teams, and compliance on legal and risk matters
  • Maintain strong client relationships and monitor risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders and promptly report significant risks
  • Uphold integrity, efficiency, and professionalism while adhering to internal procedures
  • Collaborate extensively with the support functions (incl. Transaction Managers) and control functions from the Swiss headquarters

Your profile:

  • Degree in economics, business administration, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in commodity trade finance within a bank or trading company, ideally both
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting
  • Strong technical expertise in commodity trading finance and market understanding
  • Existing client portfolio is a plus
  • Strong business analysis, market planning, and risk structuring skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant business tools
  • Being legally authorized to work in the US is a must
