For one of our clients, a commodity trading company based in Geneva, we are looking to recruit an Accountant to join their team. This role is an opportunity for a rigorous accounting professional with solid experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, and accounting processes within an international environment.
Your mission:
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including bookkeeping, general ledger entries, reconciliations, accruals, and closing processes.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely reporting.
- Support management reporting through P&L analysis, balance sheet reviews, variance analysis, and financial data preparation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, tax requirements, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of accounting records, contracts, invoices, payments, and compliance-related information.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, treasury, trade finance, and business teams to ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions.
- Contribute to accounting projects, process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting automation.
Your profile:
- 5–8 years of experience in accounting, ideally within a commodity trading company or an international trading environment.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, closing processes, reconciliations, financial statements, and management reporting.
- Good understanding of Swiss accounting standards or international accounting practices.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, Swiss Certified Specialist in Finance and Accounting, or Chartered Accountant is a strong asset.
- Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to take ownership of accounting topics.
- Comfortable working with ERP/accounting systems and Excel.
- Reliable, structured, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced international environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with auditors, banks, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
