For one of our clients, a trading company based in Geneva, Switzerland, we are currently seeking to recruit a Junior Proprietary Trader with a focus on Cocoa.
Your mission:
- Monitor cocoa markets, with a particular focus on West Africa, supply and demand fundamentals, crop developments, flows, differentials and macro drivers
- Support the development and execution of proprietary trading strategies across futures, physical-related exposures and arbitrage opportunities
- Analyse market structure, price trends, spreads, volatility and key risk factors impacting cocoa markets
- Assist in managing trading positions, P&L, exposure and risk limits under the supervision of senior traders
- Contribute to short-term and long-term market views, including arbitrage, hedging and relative value strategies
- Maintain close interaction with internal teams including trading, risk, operations and research
- Build market intelligence through regular contact with brokers, market participants and industry sources
- Develop strong discipline in risk management, reporting and trade follow-up
Your profile:
- 1–3 years of experience in commodity trading, market analysis, brokerage, risk, execution or a related role
- Strong interest in cocoa markets and soft commodities; prior exposure to cocoa is a strong asset
- Good understanding of futures markets, spreads, hedging, arbitrage and trading fundamentals
- Analytical mindset with strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment and make decisions based on data, market signals and risk parameters
- Good knowledge of Excel; Python, VBA, SQL, Power BI or other analytical tools would be an asset
- Fluent in English and French mandatory
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Geneva
- Curious, disciplined, resilient and eager to learn from experienced traders
