Head of Compliance

On behalf of one of our clients, an energy trading company, we are looking for a Head of Compliance based in Dubai. You will be instrumental in driving the compliance and regulatory strategy across the Group’s global operations in a fast-paced trading environment.
MISSION

  • Assisting the Group’s Compliance Committee in coordinating and enhancing the global compliance framework.
  • Leading and coaching KYC and compliance teams to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring day-to-day compliance controls are functioning effectively, with timely resolution of any issues.
  • Conducting compliance audits, gap analyses, and reviews, ensuring policies are up-to-date and issues are addressed.
  • Investigating compliance incidents, reporting findings, and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Designing and delivering training programs to promote a culture of compliance across the organization.
  • Managing compliance areas including AML/KYC, Anti-bribery and corruption, Sanctions, Market Abuse, Antitrust/Anticompetitive practices, GDPR and Data Protection, as well as Modern Slavery and Human Rights.
  • You will work closely with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure that the business is always in line with evolving regulations and best practices.

 
YOUR PROFILE

  • A Bachelor's degree in Legal, Finance, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in compliance, with a strong focus on EU GDPR, AML/KYC, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU regulations (including AML, KYC, GDPR, and PDPA) and experience with personal data protection requirements across various geographies.
  • Familiarity with energy commodity trading and the specific compliance challenges within this sector.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and coach a diverse global team.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while working independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a hands-on attitude towards managing compliance processes.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with employees and management at all levels, ensuring effective collaboration across teams.
  • You will bring both strategic insight and practical expertise to lead the compliance function in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
