For one of our clients, an international oil products trading company based in Geneva, we are seeking an experienced Business Developer – Oil Products, West and Central Africa. This role is an opportunity for a senior commercial professional with a strong network across African oil products markets and a proven ability to originate, structure, and grow profitable trade flows.

Your mission :

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of oil products clients, suppliers, and counterparties across West and Central Africa.
  • Identify and originate new business opportunities, with a focus on building sustainable and profitable trade flows.
  • Leverage your existing network to source deals, open new markets, and strengthen the company’s regional presence.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, pricing structures, and supply/offtake agreements.
  • Work closely with trading, operations, finance, risk, and legal teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.
  • Monitor market trends, regional demand, competitor activity, pricing dynamics, and regulatory developments.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers, suppliers, agents, logistics providers, and financial partners.
  • Contribute to the company’s growth strategy in African oil products markets.

 

Your profile :

  • 10+ years of experience in oil products trading, business development, or commercial origination.
  • Strong knowledge of West and Central African markets, with an established network of clients, suppliers, and trading counterparties.
  • Proven track record in developing trade flows and generating profitable business.
  • Good understanding of oil products markets, pricing mechanisms, logistics, supply chains, and contract negotiation.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and with a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with financial tools, risk management, and price exposure management.
  • Good understanding of physical commodity flows, including contracts, logistics, shipping documents, storage, insurance, and payment mechanisms.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and French, any other languages would be an asset.
  • Rigorous, solutions-oriented, and able to operate in a fast-paced international trading environment.
