For one of our clients, an international company specialized in physical metals trading, we are currently recruiting a Trading Operator – Metals to join their team in Switzerland. This is an excellent opportunity for an operations professional looking to support the execution of international trades in non-ferrous metals and concentrates, working closely with traders, suppliers, customers, logistics partners, smelters, refineries, and finance teams. The role is ideally suited to a Trading Operator looking to transition into a Trader position in the short to medium term, with strong exposure to trading activities and the commercial aspects of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end execution of physical metals trades, from contract confirmation to final settlement.
  • Coordinate with Traders, Logistics, Shipping, Finance, and external counterparties to ensure smooth trade execution.
  • Prepare and manage standard trade and shipping documentation, including invoices, Bills of Lading, certificates of origin and inspection certificates.
  • Monitor shipments, deliveries and cargo movements, and follow up with suppliers, customers, agents and logistics partners.
  • Assist with Letters of Credit, payment terms and trade finance documentation.
  • Support the calculation and follow-up of freight, demurrage, laytime and other operational costs.
  • Ensure that trades are executed in line with contractual terms, Incoterms and internal procedures.
  • Update and maintain accurate information in the trade management system.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues in coordination with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Profile

  • 2–5 years of experience in Trade Operations, Logistics, Contracts or a similar role within metals or dry bulk commodities.
  • Previous exposure to metals or other dry bulk commodities is a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of international trade, shipping and logistics processes.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and trade documentation; knowledge of L/Cs is a plus.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, hands-on and comfortable working in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Fluent English; French or another language would be an advantage.
